PLEASE BE ON TIME AS IF NO ONE IS THERE FOR THE COLLEGE FACULTY TO TALK TO--THEY WILL BE DISMISSED FOR THE DAY.
REGISTRATION CLOSES ON JULY 10, 2009
This training session is only for new teachers and/or current teachers assigned to teach course(s) during the 2009-2010 school year for which they do not have current ATC approval. This training will only be valid for one (1) year due to the adoption of new TEKS for all CTE courses effective the 2010-2011 school year.
The Advanced Technical Credit (ATC) Program gives high school students a chance to receive credit at participating community colleges across Texas for taking certain enhanced technical courses during high school. All the participating community colleges have agreed to offer students credit for these courses, provided the college offers the course and the student meets certain criteria. For a high school to offer an ATC course to its students, the teacher of the course must meet the ATC teacher requirements, go through ATC training and teach the high school course so that it is enhanced to meet the content of the equivalent college course. ATC courses are only offered in technical or workforce areas - courses in academic areas such as English or history are not offered as ATC courses.
***If you are currently approved by ATC for your courses, they have been extended to July 31, 2010.
Training for the ATC Program takes place in two parts: Part I and Part II. You must complete both parts to be approved.
Part I will be offered ONLINE ONLY (go to www.atctexas.org to complete this training prior to attendance at Part II).
****Bring your completed information from PART I to the PART II Training session.*****
Part II is course-specific training where you will meet with College Faculty to review course syllabi, course requirements and competencies.
